This week has been a horrible recap of all the no shows I've experienced. I seriously think it's a Malaysian problem to have no regards for other people's time. I feel the need to trash these people as they made my day(s)/ weekend(s)/ week(s)/ month(s) pretty miserable one time or another.
No show #1: The Fugwit Employer
The one who calls you in for an interview, but doesn't show up til an hour later when someone finally calls him up and reminds him. The one who conveniently forgets about the interview because he is an important man/ woman with important businesses to attend to and you're just a new graduate that can be pushed around because you've no other job offers and can't be picky.
Solution: "Hello, I'm calling to decline your job offer as I feel that your company's work ethics would be detrimental to my career progress. Could you please return me my passport sized photos?"
No show #2: The Giordano Guy Who Wanted Supper
The one who asked you to wait up for him/ her to finish work so that you guys could hang out, and makes you wait til 3a.m. on a school night before he conveniently sms-es you to tell you he won't be coming because he fell asleep after taking a shower. He promises to make it up to you, but this falling asleep thing seems to be an incurable disease that strikes like a ghost in a Japanese horror flick every night after he takes a shower.
Solution:
No show #3: The One Who Has A Life
The one who believes that he/ she has a life and you don't. The one who promises that this weekend you guys will catch up, so you make time and refuse all other appointments because you think that well, you're booked. Little do you know that the booking is subject to TOWHAL's availability.
Contract conditions in small print say: If the subject does not call/ sms/ contact you after the period of which the date expires, it is naturally assumed that the date was cancelled.
Why thank you very much, how considerate of you.
Solution: You no show me. I no show you.

He says, " Hey Kim, sorry about the other night (which other night?). I'll give you a call tonight and maybe we could go out for a drink?"
I say, "Uh-huh."
No more okays, no more see yous.

The author has currently changed her lifestyle, and is listed as an honorary member of TOWHAL. For hang out sessions, meals etc. other social activities, a monetary deposit (depending on the person's level of trustworthiness) is required prior to the date of the outing. Should ye who sets the date; break it, the proceeds shall be donated to TOWHAL's wardrobe fund.
:
Aww that BLOWS...BIG TIME!! The employer sucked, but the other two are..or was [wink] your friends. If I was a lil' meanie, I'd suggest you STAND them up next time...a taste of their medication.
The last person should have at least called you...
Come to Leeds [smiles], I take you out and we can party without them. I know a bar filled with British hotties!! =)

heh. good for you. you know who's a chronic TOWHAL? knie. blah.
lc.. i'm DYING to..but am afraid it's gonna be a couple yrs more before i make it over there. you MUST extend your visa. LOL.
in the meantime, can't you mail them here? *pouts*
chiennne..he is? now tht's odd cause he spends much time online chatting or entertains me at my place. oh wait. i'm a TOWHAL too. ok. got it. =)
oh hmm oh darn. gotta put a deposit down 1st? hmm... not gonna risk it. might get into a car crash or shit like that and end up as a no show haha.
no show 1: employer!
ive experienced that. stupid guy made me wait ah hour before my interview. then interview for crappy 10mins. wasted my time and all.
didnt go back to the second interview after. haha.. balas balik. made them wait and they called my phone i didnt pick up.
what the hell right?
chrissieeeeeeeee
Hewo :P Oh gosh, I could be susceptible to TOWHAL, but never on purpose of course. It's just that a lot of times, both parties seem reluctant to organize a day and all. Worse yet, they won't come unless a specific few (other ppl) pop up :P Am I being vague again? *grins* Hope that neither of us gets any of the No Show disease~ 'tis a terrible affliction... ;)
merv... i forgot to mention the exclusion clause: deposit refunded if you tell me you can't make it before the meet is supposed to commence, with good reason.
otherwise thank you for my new dress =)
chrissie..i just tried calling them to tell them tht i'm not taking their offer but the editor and sub-ed were both out. i think i shall do exactly what you did. thanks!
matty.. oh gosh i know wad u mean. they want to go out but they don't want to make the arrangements for it and make u call up everybody. well..tht's not ur fault now is it?
and NS (No Shows, not National service) is a terrible disease indeed, i think they get cursagitis.
some people just have total attitude problems. i haven't experienced it here personally but ... who knows, perhaps it's a cultural thing to think it's ok to schedule and back out at the last minute. ironically, as i read thsi post, my father has just stormed into the house. he scheduled to meet a client and in the middle of meeting them, 40 minutes away by car, they ring and say they won't be needing him anymore ... wtf like so selfish you can't call earlier? did you not consider the time, and cost and petrol?
do you really need these types of people who only need you when it's convenient for them? NO. you're smarter than that babe. and these people who are currently exploring their newfound fame and glory - fugg em ... this type of thing doesn't last and when its all over ... you know where and who they'll be crawling back to ...
the best revenge - in any case- my dear, is living WELL. xoxo
i shall resist on commenting abt me being a TOWHAL's...
lol this is hilarious. no no, it's not because u got stood up that made it hilarious, it's the "i'll use the money for my wardrobe thingy".
hey, you know what, the best way to make them pay is to ignore them. then they'll realise what they're missing. AND if in the first place, they're not even courteous enough to let you know in advance that they can't make it to an appointment, or if you're not even priority enough for them to think of you waiting, then they're not worth your sleepless nights (3 am??).
bah a lot of ppl are like that. they take things for granted. it's only when things are lost, that they realised what they had. and then regret it forever.
ps: sorry for being mia. so damn busy. i need more hours in a day!! i'm only able to squeeze in an hour or so a day to relax. gosh.
ohh noo....how come the emlpoyer so mean?! hrmphh....i hate ppl who does these things...don care isit our boss or friends!
Err....the camera costs about A$1.5k, which includes everything including postage. so quite good bargain hehhe. don b jealous yeah, u can model for me when i go back and take lots of nice nice pics of you *mwuahh*
TOWHAL: as your financial advisor, I suggest allowing convenient deposit payment methods eg. paypal or phone credits. i want a cut of profits for this good idea okie?
alli.. uhhuh. life's going very well now atm =) job interview tomorrow morning, friends to see, kl to shop, =)
kny.. but u're not quite a member leh. on probation.
rom.. i can't help it! i went shopping yesterday and i saw so many things tht i want but i can't buy cause i've no income and it's just wrong to spend when u're not very rich..soooooo.. am hoping for contributors! lol. Eh. u made a promise to meet up though not when. so if u break if by going back to UK without meeting up with me, u owe me clothing!
justina.. sob sob sob. i wantttttt. nm nm. work and buy. been wanting something more professional for a long time now. mine doesn't quite serve me anymore.
crispy.. considering tht this is ur first time commenting + tht wonderful suggestion, i'm gonna give u 30%. and if i don't get anything at all i'm still gonna buy u a drink (but u have to meet up with me HAHAH)
