Elections Fever

Work's so crazy I don't have time to blog.

And I like that :)

Lost count liao.

Tomorrow's schedule:

> Wake up at 4am
> Be at airport at 5am
> Flight to KL's at 6am
> Arriving at KLIA 7.45am
> Should be back in PJ by 10am
> Going to work right after I drop off luggage

------------------------

I've flown back and forth between home and KL numerous times yearly for the past six years since college.

And yet it never fails to hit me, this emo and pre-homesickness. The dread.

It has been a horribly exhausting holiday, but somehow you don't really mind it anymore when you're reminded of KL.

It's where life has been for me for a long while now, and yet I don't feel like I belong entirely.

Meanwhile, so much has changed back here. I no longer know the roads and I can't remember its landmarks.

I want to end this post on a positive note, but I just can't lie to myself right now.

Like always, I'm gonna miss home so much.

You are a black magic woman

That's what my parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, people I don't know are singing on the karaoke set downstairs. Right now.

Chinese New Year, I understand, is a very noisy, crowdy event.

With lots of dirty kids running about breaking stuff, leaving fingerprints on the glass table and sticky stains on the furniture.

Then there are the teenagers who create their own fireworks by selotaping different time of fireworks together, with full intention of setting it off right in front of your house where at least 6 cars are parked.

Then the adults - sober ones, drunk ones, they're all the same - loud, excited and... singing Nothing But A Heartache. Together. AT 11.57PM. While I cleaned up the mess in the kitchen - pots, plates, bowls, cutlery, empty cans, glasses...

Don't know if you can tell, but I'm not exactly thrilled about the holidays right now.

And to mock me, singing from downstairs: "Such a feeling's coming over me, there is wonder in almost everything I see..."

Goin' Home!

:D

-------------------

The recent week has been a downer due to Berjaya's buyout of theSun, and rumours of Star's interest in taking over theSun's editorial (really not looking forward to this).

theSun wasn't the biggest selling paper in Malaysia, but at least it had some semblance to a newspaper - it played the occasional government watchdog and gave everyone (the ruling coalition, opposition parties, NGOs, civilians) a chance to present their views.

The buyout, which everyone says is politically driven, is gonna change the paper's editorial policy of "Telling It As It Is".

The place where all the top dogs gathered is now a pound.

I think M* put it best: "theSun's just going to be like all the other crappy English papers."
