Free time is dangerous

Weather: It threatened to rain but it didn't, which left me with a very breezy evening to eat my chinese cooking wine + maggi mee.

Disposition: I think I should be panicking because I've got shitloads of work I've not finished yet and deadline is in two days. Ah well, I guess I could always panic tomorrow.

Watching: True Blood, Season 2 Ep 07 and 08. I'm not ashamed to say that I quite enjoy the show, and actually look forward to having quiet time after work to watch it while I have my glass of iced tea. I still wish that Sookie a.k.a. Anna Paquin wasn't so annoying though. Love that Eric was a viking.

I've always wished that I had more art in me so that I knew how to make things. I can sew but not well enough to make clothing, I can paint, sorta, and I used to be able to do pencil portraits although the proportions would sometimes be slightly off. I tried knitting in Sydney but only produced one scarf, which I tried to donate but Moobs* won't let me (he says he wants to keep it because it's the very first, and probably last, thing I knit but I suspect it's because it's ugly).

I browse Etsy and Boing Boing's Makers Market and imagine all the things I'd make -- if I had craft fingers, that is.

For instance, I'd love to replicate this steampunk necklace:

USD$95!!!!!

But recent experience with my publication's DIY pages (I have to make things with recyclables that look chic, feminine and cute for readers to replicate) where I sliced my thumb open while trying to cut a lime has made it quite clear that I should stay away from sharp objects (not to mention that my designer and photographer still cracks jokes about 'we're not as clumsy as you' two months after the incident).

And the other time when I spent an entire Sunday (and I do mean, entire Sunday) stenciling a foldable umbrella with spray paint. No, that did not work out very well. Nor did my reusable lunch bag made from table mats project. Or my postcard luggage tag. Or the wrist rest. Or the frosted drinking glasses.
People like me are the backbone of our economy, we have no choice but to buy.

Older but none the wiser

Weather: The sun was insanely bright today. Thank goodness for the imaginary cloudy, shaded world behind my oversized sunnies.

Disposition: Generally pleasant with a hint of teriyaki chicken.

Watching: Clash of the Titans (1981). I thought it would be cheesy and bore me but Ray Harryhausen's stop motion bits are way cool (though I'm not going to take Perseus' side in murdering Medusa, that poor woman!). I'm not sure the super duper 3D + CG 2010 version (coming out April 1), even with Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton, is going to be able to beat that.

Ups this week: Well, I can only remember as far as Thursday so I'd say Friday's three photoshoot combo and dinner at night with Pete* was my highlight. And also today's romp at Amcorp Mall with Em* where I bought a floral spaghetti dress and an oversized striped shirt for RM30 only! It's a dangerous place to be, the RM15 vintage clothing stall.

Downs: Realising that my trust has been misplaced but that's okay, better late than never. Now if only I could just move on and delete.

In March 2005, I...

read Helen Keller's story...

got Lawi to do this on the webcam...

stood on the street because my apartment was shaking from an earthquake...

celebrated my birthday with my sis...

saw one of many gorgeous sunrises...
And may there be many more to come :)

Look up, look up, look at me, look down.

Weather: Who cares!

Disposition: Happy. Though busy, it has been an awesome day.
Three photoshoots back to back today - Dave Nuku (Biggest Loser Asia trainer) in the morning, studio shoot for a feature story I'm doing at 1pm and while doing that, I had to go for hair and makeup so that I could some glamour shots (yes, glamour shots) of me taken for the magazine's future use, and then after all this was done, I had to rush down to Mid Valley to go for the launch of a gym.

Can't say I was crazy about the look at first, SMS sent to Moobs*: "You're dating a tranny." but then I realised that my look was really no look at all because I don't wear makeup (I can still hear Em* yelling at me before Showstoppers to put on some blush and lipstick :P) so I decided not to be whiny and accepted the thick black eyeliner (although my eyes really didn't need further defining) and tousled hair.

It's actually much smokier than this, my SE phone's camera didn't manage to pick it up. But note the well trimmed eyebrows! I've never had well trimmed eyebrows!
I know I hated it when I just started the job, but I have to say, photoshoots are fun!

Ririri discovery!

Weather: Don't know! I'm staying in to work from home in the morning and taking a cab out straight to Teeq @ Pavillion KL for a food review later!

Disposition: *clears throat* ... no. Nothing to say. Just need to clear my throat because I've been coughing for the past week. Almost got better but then some PR people sent us free ice cream at the office. How to say no?

It has been awhile since I did window shopping online.

It is dangerous.

I want this dress from Phat Culture (for those of you in Australia, they deliver there!)

ONLY RM39 (AUD13)!!!!

And this bag from CheckerChex.

RM52, cream beige but looks white to me.

All the things are so cheap I feel like just buying them all (of course the dress and the bag aren't the only things I want) regardless of whether they look good in life or if I'll look good in them but then that's bad because the Story of Stuff says I musn't and I really musn't because I like leather and this isn't leather and the dress is probably made of shoddy material that won't wear well but...

How?

Ask first

Weather: HELL.

Disposition: Want to die.

Watching: True Blood, finale episode.

Does anyone know anything about portable air coolers or portable air conditioners? Do air coolers even help?

Three hours

Weather: Hot as usual. What's new?

Disposition: Officially missing you.

Watching: Chuck, Season 3, Ep10. I have to say I am very upset with what they've done with John's character. They had better make things right. And WHERE IS BRANDON ROUTH?!

Today I picked up your Professor Layton figure from XL Shop (you owe me RM80 mister) and bought myself two pairs of shoes. I showed them to you over the webcam but it just wasn't the same because you can't actually see me prance around in them.

Also, you were heaps sleepy because it was only 10pm here but 1am there and you've got to be up by 7am tomorrow.

No matter, here's one pair of shoes.

Berjaya Times Square, 4th floor, RM25

I love the ropey bits and the bright jungly print (can you tell I am not a fashion writer haha) and I think they'd look quite pretty with just denim or a flowy summer frock.

Am thinking of modifying the flats andgetting rid of the white ribbon-belt thing though. I feel it gets in the way of the 'look'.

What do you guys think?

Better Together

Weather: I think it was blistering hot this afternoon but I'm not sure because I'm not quite here right now.

Disposition: Better! Been coughing, dripping (you don't wanna know) and just feeling godawful for the past two days. For once I remember to take all the pills I need to.

Love this song and you should too!

It's St Patrick's Day today too (pbffttt Em*!)- well technically yesterday cause it's past midnight.

I'm determined to have a super duper awesome day tomorrow! What about you?!

Give us lord our daily pill...

Comic Sans just for you baby. :)

U.G.L.Y. You ain't got no alibi

Weather: Hot. And I have a cough and a sorethroat but can't drink cold things. This sucks.

Disposition: Emo. Sure sign that my period is coming. Yeehar!

Watching: True Blood, Season 1, Ep05. Oh Sookie, stop with the coy smiles and just hump him already!

I haven't looked in the mirror recently (only long enough to comb my hair and slap on some foundation anyway) and was horribly horrified how horrible I looked when I was getting ready to go out yesterday: my skins is blotchy, I've got pores the size of wells, blackheads, whiteheads and pimple scars. No wonder people stare at me at work, I work in a predominantly fashion and beauty mag but I look like a bogan.

So, my birthday resolution: I'm going to look better.

I haven't always done the three step so starting last night, I did. I cleanse then tone (dab dab not rub rub) then use the B.Liv by Cellniq Off With Those Heads pro sebum gel that Em* (a.k.a. Kahani) let me try, then moisturise.

I bought multivitamins today because I believe that this has a lot to do with my poor diet. Will also look into buying sandwich bread and bringing my own food as often as I can. Also, less sugar :(

I put on a rice mask to hydrate my skin this afternoon. If I have time tomorrow night I'll do a cleansing mask.

I am drinking heaps of water.

Tell me, what else can I do?

Resolution. FAIL.

Weather: Rained a typhoon today. Had a huge umbrella but no use cause rain and wind was coming from all directions. Fast cars splashed dirty water on me but I couldn't tell because I was already soaked. Kind bus driver stopped for me even though I wasn't at the bus stop. Aircond on the train was extraordinarily cold, couldn't feel toes and there was a puddle on my seat when I got up.

Disposition: *cough* *cough*

Watching: True Blood, Season 1, Ep4. It's not bad but it's not good. Don't like Anna Paquin swooning all the time. Like her gap teeth though. Chuck, Season 3, Ep09. Brandon Routh is so swoon worthy. That face, those arms. Mmmm...

Came home, took the longest hot shower in the history of this apartment (it's usually too hot so we shower cold) then had dinner of cabbage soup, kachangma and babi ponteng with Moobs' granny who's here visiting. She's one helluva cook. I had two bowls of rice then took panadol and passed out at 9.30pm.

I made up my mind about two weeks ago to write something for myself everyday on my blog but then work and life caught up with me so I didn't.

Tomorrow I'll be going to see Showstoppers at the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra courtesy of Em*. Psst - I have the best friends! Hoping to get a chance to cuddle her Beagles Rocky and Toby as well. :)

Saturday brunch at home.

Please note the ratio of meat to vege is 1:2. I'm a good girl, I am!

Bzzz Bzzz

Weather: It rained when I left the office, which meant I had to walk very fast to the bus stop (Zee* told me to bring an umbrella but I was lazy :P). My thighs feel awesome right now.

My disposition: Contented. Left work at 6pm and went to KLCC to wait around for Sae* and Wills* as we had booked tickets for Book of Eli at 9.30pm. Bought me a sour cream pretzel, picked up the tickets then went to Galeri Petronas for a browse. The Sony World Photographyy Awards exhibit was on. Loved it. Me time :)

Busy as a bee, busy as a bee, that's what I am!

Today, I got impatient with my computer and so I kicked it. While it didn't help the situation (the CD tray wouldn't come out), I did feel a bit better. Catharsis, that's what that is.

Will watch 15 minutes of 1954 Sabrina now then go to bed.

Dearest Panda dog, I miss you very much! Why your owner gotta be such a dickwad?

Internet dependency

Weather: Rained so heavily I couldn't leave the office til 8pm. Did extra work, got a migraine, left my thumbdrive in the office. I hope no one steals it.

My disposition: Tired. Slept about four hours last night because I stayed up doing research for story ideas. We're starting on the June issue, how crazy is that?

Today, or rather, yesterday, was a very long day.

Started out with crazy long queues at the train station in the morning - even the ticket line for Harry Potter movie tickets weren't quite so bad.

Got to the office to find out that our Internet was down, and so was email server which meant that if I was going to do any work, it would be all from the head or referencing other magazines. And that I did.

Had a fruitful editorial meeting: this is the first month I'm flying solo. Yup, it's just me, my editor and our designer. The editor overseeing my section is officially off the books as of March which means I'm kind of doing her job, but not really because I don't get her pay nor her title. But it's okay, I'm staying positive and determined - I WILL get there. Just you wait.

Got a stack of CDs for review, am thrilled that amidst the usual pop is John Mayer's new CD! Have brought it home for a listen but too pooped tonight to do it (but not pooped enough to forego a chick flick - watched A Cinderella Story, Chad Michael Murray is so hawt).

I need more chick flicks. Damn you Twilight. Robert Pattinson, why do you have to brood so cute. Oy Twilight fans, recommend me something to ease the parting blow.

I think my hormones are out of whack.

Lots to do tomorrow, good night world.

This lasted for maybe two seconds.
